这局棋至少有五六十年的历史了，早先名为“跑马联营”、“走马联营”，均为蒋权拟局，图势有所不同，且左右方向相反，但棋型和基本着法相似。1987年徐家亮、苏德龙《象棋排局百花谱》之“马踏联营”应该就是改自以上两局。

按本局末之势，即马炮底卒对炮低兵双相，若是在实战中，在下恐怕十盘要杀你七八盘。
